Faith a Way of Life

by Peggy Colf, Executive Assistant  |  05/03/2026  |  This Sunday's Reading

This Sunday we are invited to trust in Jesus, serve others, and to live as part of God’s plan for His people. The early Christians faced many challenges, but they worked together in faith, and we are called to do the same. Faith is not just a belief but should be a way of life for each of us. It is not just about knowing the truth but living it and what better example do we have than when we follow Jesus because through Him, we find strength, purpose and the way to God the Father. In the second reading we hear that believers are described as living stones in God’s house, so each person has a role in building up the Church by living and helping others to also follow with trust and love. We need to serve and not be served.

We do this by caring for the poor, being honest and treating others with kindness. It’s not easy but Jesus shows that following Him leads to true life and He is the path that brings us closer to the Father. In the first reading we hear how the early Christians put this into practice because they faced a challenge but worked together to care for those in need. In the Gospel we hear more words of comfort and hope. Jesus speaks about preparing a place and promises the disciples that they will be with Him in that place. These words were meant to encourage His followers because He was preparing to leave them. We also should be encouraged by the words of Jesus, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The disciples struggled to understand His words, especially Thomas because he asks how they can know what the way. Even those closest to Jesus had doubts and questions and many people today feel the same way. Faith is not always easy , but Jesus calls us to trust Him even when we do not fully understand. We should work for unity, to serve others, and be wise leaders. TRUST IN HIM!
