This Sunday’s readings call us to rejoice, trust in God, and share His peace. They remind us of the blessings we receive and the mission we must live and to spread our faith. God’s blessings are not meant to keep within us but to be shared with others. In this Sunday’s readings we hear that God’s care is personal and comforting, we can trust Him in all things, like a loving mother. Through focusing on the Cross of Christ we learn what truly matters, because it reminds us to avoid being proud of worldly success and to rely on Christ alone for our hope. Jesus sends out His disciples to share the Good News. He tells them to bring peace wherever they go and to trust God to provide for them.

Even when people do not accept the message, Jesus encourages them to stay strong in faith and remember the greater joy of having their names written in heaven. This means that those who follow God and live as His disciples are promised eternal life with Him. We are encouraged to bring peace to others by showing love, listening, and being kind. We can also pray for peace in our homes, communities, and the world. Just like the disciples of Jesus, people might not welcome us. We should stay strong in our faith even when others reject it and to keep sharing God’s love with kindness. We need to share our faith not only by being kind, but also patient, and showing God’s love in our actions.

Remember actions, do speak louder than words. How can we say to someone, “ I care about you, and I am here if you need me”, yet right after we say those words we walk away from them or close the door on them? If you truly are there, then give them time to really think about what you just said and especially give them time to respond back to you. Let them know your arms are open to them. Sometimes those moments of silence can say a lot. We need to not be afraid to ask for help when helping others. Jesus did not send His followers out alone; He sent them in pairs so they could support and encourage one another.

Working together with someone is important when we try to share God’s love with others. “No man is an island and no man stands alone.” If you think about the gospel for this Sunday, how many of us would have gone out with nothing in our pockets, with no change of clothes, not knowing where your next meal would come from but trusting that you will be taken care of and your daily needs will be met? I know I would have second thoughts on that. Our society seems to have made us worriers instead of trusting people.

We seem to need that plan in our lives, to know what will happen even before it happens. We need to learn to trust, in ourselves, in our family, in our friends but most of all in God. Take time to reflect on the readings for this Sunday.

Regocíjense y compartan la paz de Dios

Las lecturas de este domingo nos llaman a regocijarnos, confiar en Dios y compartir su paz. Nos recuerdan las bendiciones que recibimos y la misión que debemos vivir, difundiendo nuestra fe. Las bendiciones de Dios no están destinadas a permanecer en nosotros, sino a ser compartidas con los demás. En las lecturas de este domingo, escuchamos que el cuidado de Dios es personal y reconfortante; podemos confiar en Él en todo, como una madre amorosa. Al centrarnos en la cruz de Cristo, aprendemos lo que realmente importa, porque nos recuerda que debemos evitar enorgullecernos del éxito mundano y confiar solo en Cristo para nuestra esperanza. Jesús envía a sus discípulos a compartir la Buena Nueva. Les dice que lleven paz dondequiera que vayan y que confíen en que Dios proveerá para ellos.

Incluso cuando las personas no aceptan el mensaje, Jesús las anima a mantenerse firmes en la fe y a recordar la alegría mayor de tener sus nombres escritos en el cielo. Esto significa que a quienes siguen a Dios y viven como sus discípulos se les promete la vida eterna con Él. Se nos anima a llevar paz a los demás mostrando amor, escuchando y siendo amables. También podemos orar por la paz en nuestros hogares, comunidades y el mundo. Al igual que los discípulos de Jesús, puede que la gente no nos reciba bien. Debemos mantenernos firmes en nuestra fe incluso cuando otros la rechacen y seguir compartiendo el amor de Dios con bondad. Necesitamos compartir nuestra fe no solo siendo amables, sino también pacientes y mostrando el amor de Dios con nuestras acciones.

Recuerda que las acciones hablan más que las palabras. ¿Cómo podemos decirle a alguien: "Me importas y estoy aquí si me necesitas", pero justo después de decir esas palabras nos alejamos o le cerramos la puerta? Si realmente estás ahí, dale tiempo para que reflexione sobre lo que acabas de decir y, sobre todo, dale tiempo para que te responda. Hazle saber que tienes los brazos abiertos para él. A veces, esos momentos de silencio pueden decir mucho. No debemos tener miedo de pedir ayuda cuando ayudamos a los demás. Jesús no envió a sus seguidores solos; los envió en parejas para que se apoyaran y animaran mutuamente.

Trabajar en equipo es importante cuando intentamos compartir el amor de Dios con los demás. «Ningún hombre es una isla y nadie está solo». Si piensas en el Evangelio de este domingo, ¿cuántos de nosotros habríamos salido sin nada en los bolsillos, sin mudarnos, sin saber de dónde vendría nuestra próxima comida, pero confiando en que nos cuidarían y cubrirían nuestras necesidades diarias? Sé que yo lo pensaría dos veces. Nuestra sociedad parece habernos hecho personas preocupadas en lugar de confiar en los demás.

Parece que necesitamos ese plan en nuestras vidas, saber qué sucederá incluso antes de que suceda. Necesitamos aprender a confiar en nosotros mismos, en nuestra familia, en nuestros amigos, pero sobre todo en Dios. Dedica un tiempo a reflexionar sobre las lecturas de este domingo.
