The readings this weekend reminds us to live with trust to stay ready and that God keeps His promises. We are part of His plan, just like the people in the Bible. We are told that we must be ready at all times because He may come when we do not expect it. Faith is not just about believing. It is also about how we live each day. Abraham trusted God’s promises even when he could not see how they would come true and he believed in what God said, even when it seemed impossible. Faith often requires action, even when the future is unclear.

God expects people to use their gifts wisely and not waste what they have been given. We need to avoid spiritual laziness and take small steps to grow closer to God. Distractions can pull us away from our faith, so we need to learn ways to stay strong. We can do this by staying focused on God and build habits that keep our faith strong.

Our second reading is from the Book of Hebrews, which is a letter in the New Testament, that was written to the Jewish Christians who were struggling with their faith. In this letter they are encouraged to stay strong by explaining that Jesus is greater than the old ways of the Jewish faith. They hear that Jesus is higher than angels, greater than Moses and the perfect high priest. Unlike the priests who offered animal sacrifices, Jesus offered Himself for our sins. We also read about the practical advice for Christian living, urging believers to love one another, to show hospitality, and to respect our leaders.

Jesus had compassion and care for all people, especially those who are often overlooked, such as the poor and the outcasts. By knowing that Jesus consistently showed love to everyone, we can see His message as a call to rely on God’s love and to live with faith, free from fear. We must be prepared for the Master’s return. We need to step out of our comfort zones and embark on a journey to rescue those that need spiritual help.

We need to prepare for the second coming of Jesus by living with the awareness of Christ’s presence and building up and encouraging others, so that the return of the Lord will be a joyful and incredible surprise rather than a disturbing one. Through the Eucharist, we begin to taste the fulfillment of these promises, and by living in faith, hope, and love, we can receive His blessings and be delivered from death. The Scriptures tell us that the things we have in this world don’t last forever. Even if we gather wealth and power, it won’t bring lasting happiness.

What really matters is the love we show to others. As followers of Jesus, our main goal should be to serve Him and help our neighbors. When we become too attached to material possessions and care too much about what others think of us, we lose sight of Christ’s presence in our lives. That’s why it’s important to be watchful and focus on prayer and acts of kindness. By aligning our hearts with God’s plan, we become wise servants who are ready to welcome the Lord when He comes to us. (PC)

Mantente despierto y preparado

Las lecturas de este fin de semana nos recuerdan que debemos vivir con confianza, estar preparados y que Dios cumple sus promesas. Somos parte de su plan, al igual que las personas de la Biblia. Se nos dice que debemos estar preparados en todo momento porque Él puede venir cuando menos lo esperamos. La fe no se trata solo de creer. Se trata también de cómo vivimos cada día. Abraham confió en las promesas de Dios incluso cuando no veía cómo se cumplirían y creyó en lo que Dios decía, incluso cuando parecía imposible. La fe a menudo requiere acción, incluso cuando el futuro es incierto.

Dios espera que las personas usen sus dones sabiamente y no desperdicien lo que han recibido. Debemos evitar la pereza espiritual y dar pequeños pasos para acercarnos a Dios. Las distracciones pueden alejarnos de nuestra fe, por lo que necesitamos aprender maneras de mantenernos fuertes. Podemos lograrlo manteniéndonos enfocados en Dios y desarrollando hábitos que fortalezcan nuestra fe.

Nuestra segunda lectura es del Libro de Hebreos, una carta del Nuevo Testamento escrita a los cristianos judíos que luchaban con su fe. En esta carta se les anima a mantenerse firmes, explicándoles que Jesús es superior a las antiguas costumbres de la fe judía. Escuchan que Jesús es superior a los ángeles, superior a Moisés y el sumo sacerdote perfecto. A diferencia de los sacerdotes que ofrecían sacrificios de animales, Jesús se ofreció a sí mismo por nuestros pecados. También leemos consejos prácticos para la vida cristiana, instando a los creyentes a amarse unos a otros, a ser hospitalarios y a respetar a sus líderes.

Jesús tuvo compasión y cuidó de todas las personas, especialmente de aquellos que a menudo son ignorados, como los pobres y los marginados. Al saber que Jesús mostró constantemente amor a todos, podemos ver su mensaje como un llamado a confiar en el amor de Dios y a vivir con fe, sin temor. Debemos estar preparados para el regreso del Maestro. Necesitamos salir de nuestra zona de confort y emprender un viaje para rescatar a quienes necesitan ayuda espiritual.

Necesitamos prepararnos para la segunda venida de Jesús viviendo con la conciencia de la presencia de Cristo y edificando y animando a otros, para que el regreso del Señor sea una sorpresa gozosa e increíble, en lugar de una inquietante. A través de la Eucaristía, comenzamos a saborear el cumplimiento de estas promesas, y al vivir en la fe, la esperanza y el amor, podemos recibir sus bendiciones y ser librados de la muerte. Las Escrituras nos dicen que lo que tenemos en este mundo no dura para siempre. Incluso si acumulamos riquezas y poder, no nos traerá felicidad duradera.

Lo que realmente importa es el amor que mostramos a los demás. Como seguidores de Jesús, nuestro principal objetivo debe ser servirle y ayudar a nuestro prójimo. Cuando nos apegamos demasiado a las posesiones materiales y nos preocupamos demasiado por lo que otros piensen de nosotros, perdemos de vista la presencia de Cristo en nuestras vidas. Por eso es importante estar atentos y enfocarnos en la oración y las obras de bondad. Al alinear nuestro corazón con el plan de Dios, nos convertimos en siervos sabios, listos para recibir al Señor cuando venga a nosotros. (PC)
