The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a sign of the love and victory of Jesus. Jesus made a sacrifice to save us from our sins. We should look at the Cross not as a symbol of suffering and death, but a sign of hope and new life because of His resurrection. God can bring good even from pain. By the Cross we can face our own struggles with courage and offer them to God just as His Son did. We need to learn to accept hardships with love and hope as we place our trust in Christ and believe that His victory over death can guide us through our trials. Today’s Feast has been celebrated by the Church for centuries and is a symbol of our faith. We celebrate this feast on September 14 because on this day in the year 335, the Church in Jerusalem dedicated a new church built on the site where Jesus died and rose from the dead and the church was built to honor both His crucifixion and His resurrection.

Every year since then, the Church remembers this day and the power of the Cross. Today take a few minutes and reflect on what the Cross means to you. Is it just a symbol or is it the reminder of God’s love and mercy for each one of us? We as Catholics, venerate the Cross in our daily lives especially in liturgy. We make the Sign of the Cross when we pray, and we display crosses in our homes and churches because it is a central part of our faith.

In a world filled with pain, and despair, the message of the Cross shines brighter than ever. It reminds us that love is stronger than hate, forgiveness is greater than judgment, and life triumphs over death. To carry the cross in our hearts is to walk in hope, even when circumstances seem dark, because we know that love has already won. If we truly embrace the Cross, we need to let go of pride, to surrender our own will, and to live in the light of love that transforms. It challenges us to forgive others as we have been forgiven, to serve with humility as Christ served, and to extend grace even when it feels undeserved.

The cross is both a gift and a calling: a gift of salvation and a call to live in love. We should see our own problems, hardships and struggles as a way to grow closer to Christ and share in His love. Remember by embracing the Cross, we also are a part of our own transformation because we are changed and made new in Christ. (PC)

Nuestra Propia Cruz

La Fiesta de la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz es un símbolo del amor y la victoria de Jesús. Jesús hizo un sacrificio para salvarnos de nuestros pecados. Debemos ver la Cruz no como un símbolo de sufrimiento y muerte, sino como un símbolo de esperanza y nueva vida gracias a su resurrección. Dios puede traer bien incluso del dolor. Por la Cruz podemos afrontar nuestras propias luchas con valentía y ofrecérselas a Dios como lo hizo su Hijo. Necesitamos aprender a aceptar las dificultades con amor y esperanza, depositando nuestra confianza en Cristo y creyendo que su victoria sobre la muerte puede guiarnos en nuestras pruebas. La Fiesta de hoy ha sido celebrada por la Iglesia durante siglos y es un símbolo de nuestra fe. Celebramos esta fiesta el 14 de septiembre porque en este día del año 335, la Iglesia de Jerusalén dedicó una nueva iglesia construida en el lugar donde Jesús murió y resucitó, para honrar tanto su crucifixión como su resurrección.

Cada año desde entonces, la Iglesia recuerda este día y el poder de la Cruz. Hoy, tómate unos minutos para reflexionar sobre lo que la Cruz significa para ti. ¿Es solo un símbolo o un recordatorio del amor y la misericordia de Dios por cada uno de nosotros? Como católicos, veneramos la Cruz en nuestra vida diaria, especialmente en la liturgia. Hacemos la señal de la Cruz al orar y exhibimos cruces en nuestros hogares e iglesias porque es parte central de nuestra fe.

En un mundo lleno de dolor y desesperación, el mensaje de la Cruz brilla con más fuerza que nunca. Nos recuerda que el amor es más fuerte que el odio, el perdón es mayor que el juicio y la vida triunfa sobre la muerte. Llevar la cruz en el corazón es caminar con esperanza, incluso cuando las circunstancias parecen sombrías, porque sabemos que el amor ya ha triunfado. Si realmente abrazamos la Cruz, debemos dejar atrás el orgullo, renunciar a nuestra propia voluntad y vivir en la luz del amor que transforma. Nos desafía a perdonar a los demás como hemos sido perdonados, a servir con humildad como Cristo sirvió y a extender la gracia incluso cuando la sentimos inmerecida.

La cruz es a la vez un don y una vocación: un don de salvación y una vocación a vivir en amor. Debemos ver nuestros propios problemas, dificultades y luchas como una manera de acercarnos a Cristo y compartir su amor. Recuerda que, al abrazar la cruz, también somos parte de nuestra propia transformación, porque somos transformados y renovados en Cristo. (PC)
