The readings this Sunday reminds us to find a way to welcome God into our homes and our lives. If you paid attention to the readings, you would have heard who listened to what the Lord said and who did not. The readings show us both action and listening. Abraham serves the Lord with great care. Mary sits at Jesus’ feet and listens. Martha tries hard to serve, but she misses the quiet moment with Jesus.

In the first reading Abraham gave food and rest to three visitors. One visitor tells him that Sarah will have a son within the year, and it will be a blessing to Abraham. This reminds us that God keeps His promises. In the psalm we hear that those who live with truth and fairness will stay close to God. The second reading points to the mystery of Christ. Paul shares this mystery through his work and suffering. Understanding this mystery helps deepen our faith.

In the Gospel, Martha works while Mary listens. Jesus says Mary made the better choice. He is not upset with Martha, but he helps her see what matters most. Martha and Mary show the need to balance work and prayer. Both are important in our faith journey. In these readings we are reminded to make space for God. Serving is good, but we also need to stop and listen. God wants to be with us, not just through our work, but in our quiet moments too.

The readings are stories of hospitality, service, and devotion. These readings offer important lessons on how we can live out our faith in everyday life. By welcoming others, serving, listening, and trusting in God’s promises, we grow closer to Jesus. We need to think about how distractions keep us from spending time with Jesus. Phones, computers, sports, and activities can easily take up all our attention.

Dando la bienvenida a Dios en nuestras vidas

Las lecturas de este domingo nos recuerdan que debemos encontrar la manera de acoger a Dios en nuestros hogares y vidas. Si prestaras atención a las lecturas, habrías podido distinguir quién escuchó lo que el Señor dijo y quién no. Las lecturas nos muestran tanto la acción como la escucha. Abraham sirve al Señor con gran esmero. María se sienta a los pies de Jesús y escucha. Marta se esfuerza por servir, pero extraña el momento de tranquilidad con Jesús.

En la primera lectura, Abraham dio de comer y descansar a tres visitantes. Uno de ellos le dice que Sara tendrá un hijo dentro de un año, y que será una bendición para Abraham. Esto nos recuerda que Dios cumple sus promesas. En el salmo escu chamos que quienes viven con verdad y justicia permanecerán cerca de Dios. La segunda lectura señala el misterio de Cristo. Pablo comparte este misterio a través de su trabajo y sufrimiento. Comprender este misterio ayuda a profundizar nuestra fe.

En el Evangelio, Marta trabaja mientras María escucha. Jesús dice que María tomó la mejor decisión. No se enoja con Marta, sino que la ayuda a ver lo que más importa. Marta y María muestran la necesidad de equilibrar el trabajo y la oración. Ambos son importantes en nuestro camino de fe. Estas lecturas nos recuerdan que debemos hacer espacio para Dios. Servir es bueno, pero también necesitamos detenernos y escuchar. Dios quiere estar con nosotros, no solo a través de nuestro trabajo, sino también en nuestros momentos de tranquilidad.
