The parables Jesus presents in this Gospel invite us to reflect on what it means to be a true disciple. The man who finds the hidden treasure and the merchant who discovers the pearl of great value realize they have found something that surpasses any other wealth. Therefore, they are joyfully willing to leave everything behind to possess that treasure. Such must be the heart of the disciple.

Following Jesus does not consist merely of attending Mass or knowing the teachings of the faith; it means recognizing that He is the greatest treasure of our lives and placing Him at the center of all our decisions. A true disciple seeks Christ daily in prayer, listens to His Word, participates in the sacraments, and lives out the commandment of love by serving others with humility and generosity.

The parable of the net reminds us that God calls everyone, but it also invites us to respond with a life consistent with the Gospel. Being a disciple entails choosing what is good even when it is difficult, forgiving when it is hard, helping those in need, and bearing witness to our faith through our actions rather than just our words.

Jesus concludes by saying that the disciple instructed in the Kingdom knows how to bring forth both new and old things from their treasure. This reminds us that a true disciple never stops learning from the Lord. They faithfully preserve the teachings of the Church while allowing the Holy Spirit to continually renew their heart, enabling them to share the Gospel with joy in today's world. (ZG)

Ser un Verdadero Discípulo de Cristo

 Las parábolas que Jesús nos presenta en este Evangelio nos invitan a reflexionar sobre lo que significa ser un verdadero discípulo. El hombre que encuentra el tesoro escondido y el comerciante que descubre la perla de gran valor comprenden que han encontrado algo que supera cualquier otra riqueza. Por eso, con alegría, están dispuestos a dejarlo todo para poseer ese tesoro. Así debe ser el corazón del discípulo.

Seguir a Jesús no consiste únicamente en asistir a Misa o conocer las enseñanzas de la fe; significa reconocer que Él es el mayor tesoro de nuestra vida y ponerlo en el centro de todas nuestras decisiones. Un verdadero discípulo busca a Cristo cada día en la oración, escucha su Palabra, participa de los sacramentos y vive el mandamiento del amor sirviendo a los demás con humildad y generosidad.

La parábola de la red nos recuerda que Dios llama a todos, pero también nos invita a responder con una vida coherente con el Evangelio. Ser discípulo implica elegir el bien incluso cuando es difícil, perdonar cuando cuesta, ayudar al necesitado y dar testimonio de nuestra fe con nuestras acciones, más que con nuestras palabras.

Jesús concluye diciendo que el discípulo instruido en el Reino sabe sacar de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas antiguas. Esto nos recuerda que un verdadero discípulo nunca deja de aprender del Señor. Conserva con fidelidad las enseñanzas de la Iglesia y, al mismo tiempo, permite que el Espíritu Santo renueve continuamente su corazón para compartir el Evangelio con alegría en el mundo de hoy.
