This Sunday is about prayer, faith, and trust in God. We are called to keep praying, even when life is difficult or when answers take time. God listens and cares for His people and we need to have Faith and trust that God will act at the right time, even when we do not understand why it sometimes take a while for his answer. We should ask our friends to pray for us and with us because we gain strength from others through encouragement. By reading Scripture and praying we gain wisdom and strength for daily life. Staying close to God, praying with patience, and relying on our faith community help us remain strong and hopeful. The readings this Sunday all share the same message and that is God is faithful, and we can depend on Him because God does not leave us alone.

In the first reading Moses raised his hands in prayer, and Israel won the battle. Moses was supported by Aaron and Hur to help keep his hands raised, this shows us the power of community support. It reminds us that we need each other to sustain our faith. The psalm tells us that God watches over us always. In the second reading Paul tells Timothy to stay faithful to the Scriptures, which provide wisdom for salvation. We need to stay true to what we have learned and believed because it teaches us to endure hardships and be faithful to the teachings of Christ.

Jesus in the Gospel, teaches that we should keep praying. Like the persistent widow who would not give up we should be persistent in our spiritual life and keep praying even when it seems difficult. It is important to seek justice and to trust that God hears our prayers. We need to remember that we need to keep praying even when answers seem delayed, but we need to trust in God’s timing. We might feel at times that God is silent, not listening to us and not answering us. Maybe God is waiting for us to listen to Him and to listen to what His plans are for us.

Someone once told me that if I wanted to hear God laugh, that I should tell God what my plans are for my life instead of asking God what his plans are for me. A lot of us have fallen into the trap of bargaining with God. We might say “ God if you would just give me a raise at work, I will go to Mass daily”. Imagine if that was God bargaining with us. God might say the following: “My child if you would just pray more, I would give to you what you ask”. Would God hear silence from us? Would that silence be from ignoring God or would it be because we are silently praying? (PC)

Sigue orando y confiando

Este domingo se trata de oración, fe y confianza en Dios. Estamos llamados a seguir orando, incluso cuando la vida es difícil o cuando las respuestas tardan. Dios escucha y cuida de su pueblo, y necesitamos tener fe y confiar en que Dios actuará en el momento oportuno, incluso cuando no entendamos por qué a veces tarda en responder. Debemos pedir a nuestros amigos que oren por nosotros y con nosotros, porque nos fortalecemos con el aliento de los demás. Al leer las Escrituras y orar, obtenemos sabiduría y fuerza para la vida diaria. Mantenernos cerca de Dios, orar con paciencia y confiar en nuestra comunidad de fe nos ayuda a mantenernos fuertes y esperanzados. Las lecturas de este domingo comparten el mismo mensaje: Dios es fiel y podemos depender de él porque no nos deja solos.

En la primera lectura, Moisés levantó las manos en oración e Israel ganó la batalla. Moisés recibió el apoyo de Aarón y Hur para mantener sus manos en alto; esto nos muestra el poder del apoyo comunitario. Nos recuerda que nos necesitamos unos a otros para sostener nuestra fe. El salmo nos dice que Dios siempre nos cuida. En la segunda lectura, Pablo le dice a Timoteo que se mantenga fiel a las Escrituras, que nos brindan sabiduría para la salvación. Necesitamos ser fieles a lo que hemos aprendido y creído, porque nos enseña a soportar las dificultades y a ser fieles a las enseñanzas de Cristo.

Jesús, en el Evangelio, enseña que debemos seguir orando. Como la viuda persistente que no se dio por vencida, debemos ser persistentes en nuestra vida espiritual y seguir orando incluso cuando parezca difícil. Es importante buscar justicia y confiar en que Dios escucha nuestras oraciones. Debemos recordar que debemos seguir orando incluso cuando las respuestas parezcan demoradas, pero debemos confiar en el tiempo de Dios. A veces podemos sentir que Dios está en silencio, que no nos escucha ni nos responde. Quizás Dios está esperando que lo escuchemos y que escuchemos sus planes para nosotros.

Alguien me dijo una vez que si quería oír reír a Dios, debía decirle cuáles son mis planes para mi vida en lugar de preguntarle cuáles son los suyos para mí. Muchos hemos caído en la trampa de negociar con Dios. Podríamos decir: «Dios, si me dieras un aumento en el trabajo, iría a misa todos los días». Imaginen si Dios estuviera negociando con nosotros. Dios podría decir lo siguiente: «Hijo mío, si tan solo rezaras más, te daría lo que pides». ¿Escucharía Dios nuestro silencio? ¿Ese silencio se debe a que ignoramos a Dios o a que oramos en silencio?
