In this Sunday's Gospel, Jesus tells us: “Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38)

At first, these words may sound difficult, but Jesus is inviting us to something beautiful: to become true disciples who follow Him with love, courage, and trust. Being a disciple is more than coming to Mass on Sundays. It means choosing Jesus every day—in our homes, at work, at school, and in our community.

Taking up our cross does not simply mean enduring hardships; it means accepting the sacrifices that come with loving others, forgiving those who hurt us, serving without expecting recognition, and remaining faithful even when it is difficult. How can we become better disciples? Pray daily. Spend a few moments each day speaking with Jesus and listening to His voice. Serve others with love. Look for opportunities to help family members, neighbors, and those in need. Forgive generously. True disciples imitate Christ by offering mercy and compassion. Trust God in difficult times. Our crosses become lighter when we carry them with Jesus. Share our faith. Let our words and actions reflect the joy of following Christ. Jesus does not ask us to be perfect; He asks us to follow Him faithfully. Every day is a new opportunity to say “yes” to Christ and to become the disciples He calls us to be. As a parish family, let us ask the Lord for the grace to take up our cross with joy and to follow Him wholeheartedly. May our lives become a witness of faith, hope, and love for all who encounter us. Lord Jesus, help us to be better disciples each day. Give us the courage to carry our cross, the humility to serve others, and the love to follow You wherever You lead. Amen.(ZG)

Tomar Nuestra Cruz: Ser Mejores Discípulos

En el Evangelio de este domingo, Jesús nos dice:

«El que no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí». (Mateo 10, 38)

Al principio, estas palabras pueden parecer difíciles, pero Jesús nos invita a algo hermoso: a convertirnos en verdaderos discípulos que le siguen con amor, valentía y confianza. Ser discípulo es más que asistir a Misa los domingos. Significa elegir a Jesús cada día: en nuestros hogares, en el trabajo, en la escuela y en nuestra comunidad.

Tomar nuestra cruz no significa simplemente soportar dificultades; significa aceptar los sacrificios que conlleva amar a los demás, perdonar a quienes nos hacen daño, servir sin esperar reconocimiento y permanecer fieles incluso cuando es difícil. ¿Cómo podemos ser mejores discípulos? Orar a diario. Dedicar unos momentos cada día a hablar con Jesús y escuchar su voz. Servir a los demás con amor. Buscar oportunidades para ayudar a familiares, vecinos y personas necesitadas. Perdonar generosamente. Los verdaderos discípulos imitan a Cristo ofreciendo misericordia y compasión. Confiar en Dios en los momentos difíciles. Nuestras cruces se vuelven más ligeras cuando las llevamos con Jesús. Compartir nuestra fe. Que nuestras palabras y acciones reflejen la alegría de seguir a Cristo. Jesús no nos pide que seamos perfectos; nos pide que le sigamos fielmente. Cada día es una nueva oportunidad para decirle «sí» a Cristo y convertirnos en los discípulos que Él nos llama a ser. Como familia parroquial, pidamos al Señor la gracia de tomar nuestra cruz con alegría y de seguirle de todo corazón. Que nuestras vidas sean un testimonio de fe, esperanza y amor para todos aquellos coquienes nos encontremos. Señor Jesús, ayúdanos a ser mejores discípulos cada día. Danos la valentía para llevar nuestra cruz, la humildad para servir a los demás y el amor para seguirte a dondequiera que nos lleves. Amén. (ZG)
