This week God calls people to trust Him. In each reading we see someone stepping forward with faith. Abram leaves his home; the disciples follow Jesus up the mountain and Paul tells Timothy to keep going even when life is hard. Lent is a time that we need to listen and follow even if it is in ways that we do not expect, or when it is hard. We should not stay in one place; we are called to move forward with hope and with faith, that God is leading us somewhere good. Have you noticed that when God wants to meet people in a special way He does it on a Mountain?

Noah received God's promise on a mountain, Moses received the Ten Commandments on a mountain. These high places remind us that God calls people to rise above daily life and listen to Him. This week Jesus is transfigured on Mount Tabor where the disciples see His glory and hears the voice of the Father. No one that is called to a mountain stays on the mountain in those special moments with God forever. Faith requires action and everyone is called to go back into the world and live what we have learned. Climbing a mountain is not easy, just as following God is not easy because it takes effort, but every step brings us closer to Him.

Think about what amazement and wonder must have been on the mountain when they saw that Jesus was revealing His Glory in the transfiguration before them. Would you be afraid like they were, would you listen to Jesus when he says not to fear? We should look at every Mass as going up the mountain with Jesus because in the Eucharist we see Him as He truly is and we receive His grace. After Mass we return to our daily life, carrying the strength of Jesus within us. We need to recognize the power of the Mass, where Jesus continues to lead us just as He led his disciples.

The Father's words on the mountain "Listen to Him!" is for us to hear too, because we need to trust Jesus, follow His teachings and place our hope in Him. Faith is not always easy. We need to believe that God will guide us, because even when those we thought were there for us seem to turn on us, God will always be there for us. When our own faith journey is filled with struggles, times of fear or doubt, Jesus will lead us through our suffering to something greater. Lent is a time to prepare our hearts for Easter, remembering that no matter what we face, God's plan leads to new life.

Confía en Dios

Esta semana, Dios llama a las personas a confiar en Él. En cada lectura, vemos a alguien que da un paso al frente con fe. Abram deja su hogar; los discípulos siguen a Jesús a la montaña y Pablo le dice a Timoteo que siga adelante incluso en las dificultades. La Cuaresma es un tiempo en el que debemos escuchar y seguir, incluso de maneras inesperadas o cuando las cosas se ponen difíciles. No debemos quedarnos en un solo lugar; estamos llamados a avanzar con esperanza y fe, sabiendo que Dios nos guía hacia un buen camino. ¿Han notado que cuando Dios quiere encontrarse con las personas de una manera especial, lo hace en una montaña?

Noé recibió la promesa de Dios en una montaña, Moisés recibió los Diez Mandamientos en una montaña. Estos lugares elevados nos recuerdan que Dios llama a las personas a elevarse por encima de la vida cotidiana y escucharlo. Esta semana, Jesús se transfigura en el Monte Tabor, donde los discípulos ven su gloria y escuchan la voz del Padre. Nadie que es llamado a una montaña permanece allí en esos momentos especiales con Dios para siempre. La fe requiere acción y todos estamos llamados a volver al mundo y vivir lo que hemos aprendido. Escalar una montaña no es fácil, así como seguir a Dios no lo es porque requiere esfuerzo, pero cada paso nos acerca a Él.

Piensa en el asombro y la maravilla que debieron sentir en la montaña cuando vieron que Jesús revelaba su gloria en la transfiguración ante ellos. ¿Tendrías miedo como ellos? ¿Escucharías a Jesús cuando les dice que no teman? Debemos ver cada Misa como una subida a la montaña con Jesús, porque en la Eucaristía lo vemos como realmente es y recibimos su gracia. Después de la Misa, volvemos a nuestra vida diaria, llevando la fuerza de Jesús en nosotros. Necesitamos reconocer el poder de la Misa, donde Jesús continúa guiándonos como guió a sus discípulos.

Las palabras del Padre en la montaña: "¡Escúchenlo!", también nos corre- sponden a nosotros, porque necesitamos confiar en Jesús, seguir sus enseñanzas y poner nuestra esperanza en Él. La fe no siempre es fácil. Necesitamos creer que Dios nos guiará, porque incluso cuando quienes creíamos que estaban ahí para nosotros parezcan volverse en nuestra contra, Dios siempre estará ahí para nosotros. Cuando nuestro camino de fe esté lleno de dificultades, momentos de miedo o duda, Jesús nos guiará a través del sufrimiento hacia algo más grande. La Cuaresma es un tiempo para preparar nuestros corazones para la Pascua, recordando que, pase lo que pase, el plan de Dios nos lleva a una nueva vida.
